The Phone Lines Are Now Open

After speaking with my background investigator I found out all of my references have been contacted and that she was ready to contact my current job. She told me this on a Friday so I would have time to speak with my boss about it. On Monday I was able to give her the home number of my boss so she would be able to speak with him about my work history. I could have given her the number to our human resources office but you know how that goes, all they can say is “ya he works here, no he hasn’t been fired”. Read more »

Perseverance

Finally after hundreds of phone calls and countless times being told “it’s in the mail” I received my documentation from First Select today. I was able to get a hold of a representative who directly contacted the person in charge of the fax machine…. let me say that again because it still cracks me up to think that they have one person who works only the fax machine…. she directly contacted the person in charge of the fax machine and I was able to explain my situation to him, 10 minuets latter I was a Kinko’s fax in hand. Driving Record

My out of state driving record finally came in the mail today, I’ve been waiting two and a half weeks for this letter. Two Weeks

It’s been two weeks and I still have not received my documentation needed for my background investigation. This is starting to bother me, but I guess I am just being impatient about it. The DMV did deduct the $8 for my driving record so at least I know that is on its way soon. Discover had sent me a letter stating that the debt as been sold (that letter only took two days), but I’ve had to make two phone calls to the new debt holder to inquire on my letter stating that it has been paid in full. I guess all I can do it wait….. Read more »

Initial Background Interview

I went for my initial background interview yesterday. We sat in a small room and the investigator asked me basic questions about my current employer, things like: do I like it, why do I want to leave, have I told my captain that I’m leaving, ect. For the most part it felt very informal almost like we were just sitting there shootin’ the shit, but I’m sure that is part of her job. The questions strayed away from the job and leaned more towards personal issues, questions about my references, how I came to live in the city, ect. Over all it was a comfortable setting and I think I passed :) Read more »
